Welcome to New Orleans, Louisiana! New Orleans is located in Southeastern, Louisiana.
Food: When you come to New Orleans, be prepared to eat wonderful cuisines! There are restaurants such as “Mister B’s Bistro” and “The New Orleans Grill”. You can expect to eat fine dishes such as gumbo, barbequed shrimp, carmelized tuna, pasta Jambalaya, stuffed flounder, and fried shrimp po-boy! Yummy! Not to mention all of the live music to go with the food!
Geography: Located between Mississippi River and Lake Ponchartrain! New Orleans is Louisiana’s largest city and it was founded in 1718 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville.

Religion: Voodoo originated from the African Diaspora. It was brought to Louisian through the slave trade. Other religions represented in New Orleans are Catholicism, Presbyterian, Christian, Latter Day Saints, Jewish, Methodist etc.

Clothing: When you come to New Orleans, you can always find a great place to shop for clothing. If you want to wear a costume go to “New Orleans Party and Costume” on 705 Camp Street! There are many costume shops that can suit your creative and artistic tastes! For example, you can buy handcrafted masks made out of paper mache and feathers

Values: The Jazz Funeral is a very important part of New Orleans culture. According to the website, The late jazzman Danny Barker, writing in his book Bourbon Street Black, noted the funeral is seen as “a major celebration. The roots of the jazz funeral date back to Africa. Four centuries ago, the Dahomeans of Benin and the Yoruba of Nigeria, West Africa were laying the foundation for one of today’s most novel social practices on the North American Continent, the jazz funeral.”
Mardi Gras has been celebrated since 1669! The French Quarter (Vieux Carre’) is an amazing tourist area! It has been a inspiration to writers and artists such as Mark Twain.
